Hurricane Igor hits hard in Newfoundland

I finished up the week on assignment for Reuters traveling to Trouty and Britannia with Prime Minister Stephen Harper to view the damage done by Hurricane Igor. The photo above is an aerial of Trouty where flash flooding washed away the road and two bridges that cross the river.

Mr. Harper, left, getting a hug from a woman in Trouty, along with Premier Danny Williams and senator Fabian Manning, met with residents and assured them that help was on the way. …more photos in the lefthand column or the PHOTOS folder

Hoping to link up with the Canadian military relief efforts this week as they distribute supplies, do airlifts and begin rebuilding the destroyed roads and bridges that left more than 50 rural communities cut of from the outside and neighbouring towns.
