All dressed up and no place to go…

It’s graduation season in Canada but Covid-19 restrictions and school closures have meant grad ceremonies and parties have been cancelled for the Class of 2020. Alida Zedel decided that a grad portrait was still in order so off we went to one of her favourite places, Flatrock, for a grad dress photoshoot. Congratulations, Alida! © 2020 Greg Locke

A Snowbird lost.

It’s sad to hear that The Snowbirds, the Royal Canadian Air Force aerobatic team, lost a crew member in a crash last month in Kamloops, B.C. Capt. Jenn Casey, a public affairs officer, was killed when she and pilot, Capt. Richard MacDougall, had to eject on take off from the airport after an apparent engine failure. They were enroute to Comox on Vancouver Island.

A native of Nova Scotia, Casey was a long-time journalist before joining the forces and becoming the Public Affairs officer for the Snow Birds. MacDougal, a veteran pilot, although seriously injured, is expected to make a full recovery.

A lucky few news photographers and journalists get to fly with the Snowbirds at their events. It is a once in a life time experience and an absolute privilege. Yes, it has its risks but these pilots and crew are total pros. I got to fly with them a long time ago in Newfoundland. Even with years of flying experience I was blown away by this flight …mostly upside down over the Atlantic Ocean.

Back to the classics!

Pot shots

Today cannabis became legal in Canada launching what many expect to be a $6 billion industry annually. The first legal sale of cannabis took place at 5 seconds after midnight with Canopy Growth CEO, Bruce Linton making the sale in their Tweed store on Water Street in St John’s, Newfoundland taking advantage of the provinces eastern most time zone in the country.Newfoundland makes history once again. Something in the Atmosphere

Back in August outdoor retailer, Atmosphere, came out to Newfoundland to shoot their fall ad campaign on the iconic East Coast Trail  …and it was a blast! Our crew of eight hiked, scouted explored and shot in locations from Flatrock to LaManche over 5 days. Even Cape Spear  …as far east as you can go in North America! For a photography and ad people its very rewarding to be doing full on advertising production on location in beautiful place.

Producer: Kaitlyn Smith
Art Director: James Wallbank

Models: Camille Stopps, Morgan Locke, Michael Zatylny, Faraz Qureshi.

The photos are making their way through their social media feeds and their retail website. Here is a small cut of my favourites.

First wedding shoot of 2018

Our first wedding of 2018 is done and delivered …with the added bonus of it being shot as the the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall resort in Montego Bay, Jamaica! Thanks to Adrienne and Greg for bringing me along for their special day.  The whole place is like a big studio. Easy to see why the fashion shooters pack up the whole crew and just goes shoot on a Caribbean resort.

Got a wedding you need photographed this year? We have some openings still for 2018. It doesn’t have to be in Jamaica! Drop us a line. and check out our wedding photo gallery.
